So, the Pittsburgh Steelers are gonna be in The Dark Knight rises!?

Ben Roethlisberger and about a dozen of his veteran teammates will take part in the filming of Dark Knight Rises playing — what else? — football players at a familiar venue for them, Heinz Field. The production, which has been filming in Pittsburgh, moves Saturday morning to the Steelers home, where thousands of extras playing fans have been recruited. The Steelers will return to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe for a real football practice under the direction of coach Mike Tomlin Saturday afternoon.

“I’m kind of getting everybody together,” Roethlisberger told the Post-Gazette today. “I heard it’s going to be a neat thing at the stadium. I don’t think it will be a big part, it’s not like we’re chasing Batman down or anyting. It’s something neat that in 10 years or 20 years we can tell our kids we were in a movie. Thomas does movies big and I’m sure it will be a big-time movie and something fun to be part of. From what I’ve heard, it’s going to be like a pre-game, warming-up type thing. I don’t know the whole concept. There’s a Gotham team, a football game. We’ll be wearing uniforms. It will be fun.”

Among teammates expected to join him are Hines Ward, Willie Colon, Maurkice Pouncey, Mike Wallace, Heath Miller, Aaron Smith, Ryan Clark, Troy Polamalu, James Farrior and Casey Hampton.”

Oh, I think Ben Roethlisberger is clearly mistaken. Any time Ben has to gather everyone up to have fun, eventually, he turns into the villain. Being in the same vicinity just makes it easier for Batman to catch Big Ben and capture it on film.

Oh Barstool Sports, why you crazy?

Who would buy this? I mean, I’ll be calling this creep Rapelisberger forever, but buy a shirt with it?

That’s just sick. If I saw someone wearing that, I’d probably think they were also a rapist. I don’t understand shirts that attack other people… It disgusts me, honestly.

Its just a joke! Does EVERYTHING offend you?

If this is the extent of negative press that hounds Ben Roethlisberger for the rest of his career, he should consider himself damn lucky. I’m sure Big Ben will take a few crude t-shirts over prison time any day of the week. While the public is condemning Roethlisberger, and deservedly so, it really should not be a surprise that there are countless others who are cashing in on Roethlisberger’s misfortune.

I would argue that this t-shirt actually fails to attack the maligned quarterback in any meaningful manner. The humour serves to make Roethlisberger’s very grave and indignant actions as funny and silly. Being morally righteous over merchandise clearly not marketed towards the majority of the population seems misdirected.

Heh, Rapelisberger.

The Greatest Photographs of the NFL # 8: The Steel Curtain The 1970s were a time of great upheaval in North America. From the economic recession, important innovations in science (computers, for one of the too numerous to name), rise of feminism and environmentalism to the ever palpable tension and fear between relations with Communist USSR and the west, there wasn’t much certainty in the world. On the NFL pitch, however, the Pittsburgh Steelers brought as much certainty as they could during their dynastic run in the 1970s: punishing, relentless, and iconic defense. Ironically named “The Steel Curtain” for the team’s defensive front four at first, Jack Lambert’s infamous stare became the image of the Steelers as a whole and the nickname “Steel Curtain” branched out to the entire unit. Intimidation, fearlessness, and disregard for injury became the motif for the Steelers and the team thrived from this description. The ability of essentially a self-portrait to encompass an entire team, and as time went on, ultimately captures the spirit of an entire organization is what makes this an all-time photograph. When an organization still wholeheartedly and unabashedly prefers a strong, hit you in the mouth type defense over a high-powered offense to obtain ultimate success, you got the Pittsburgh Steelers. A legacy that endured with a single photo of a helmeted player with a toothless growl.
