What they're saying about the 3 Amigos Jays got...
ANALYSIS: …Encarnacion, also a third baseman, is sometimes brilliant and just as often error-prone in the field and lacking discipline at the plate. The Blue Jays also picked up Roenicke, a rookie reliever from UCLA, and Stewart, a promising starter who has ascended from Class-A to Triple-A this season.

In the midst of the Papi shitstorm
walkoffbalk:

walkoffbalk:
This whole 104-names-list thing totally nullifies the importance of the Mitchell Report, doesn’t it?
Especially since Mitchell worked for the Red Sox during that fabled 2003? I would say a big “Ya Huh”.
That didn’t even occur to me—I was mostly just referring to the fact that he entirely MISSED (or maybe ignored) that list.
Guess Mitchell...

Steroids & Hypocrisy
sportscentr:
As a fan of the San Francisco Giants, I am clearly not above cheering for a steroid cheat, or even a team loaded with PED users. But after years of asterisk signs in the stands, syringes tossed onto the field, and the sanctimonious tut-tutting of other fans, there’s finally a general consensus that virtually everyone was cheating.
Five years ago, the most sanctimonious fans, by...

Goodbye Anton Stralman, I hardly knew ye
Earlier yesterday, the Toronto Maple Leafs traded D Anton Stralman, F Colin Stuart, and a 7th Round pick in 2012 to the Calgary Flames for Wayne Primeau and a 2nd Round pick in 2011. Brian Burke must have conjured up this trade on his annual offseason trip, whilst he was telling Calgary GM Darryl Sutter a dirty fishing joke (“So I says to her, “Girl, you’re like a Trophy Bass - I...

Anyone wanna explain this to me?

This was a charity/all star baseball game in Korea, if I’m not mistaken. This type of “fight” is a traditional Korean game where two combatants try to knock each other down by only standing on one foot.
Thank you for the info.
No worries. Besides, Chan Ho Park pretty much dispelled all myths about what Koreans do when they charge the mound.
(PS: Chan Ho...

McGowan's comeback derailed by knee injury →
torontojays:
The sad saga of Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Dustin McGowan has taken another twist for the worse, with Thursday’s revelation that the right-hander recently underwent knee surgery.
‘Chops catches all the wrong breaks. As if the Roy Halladay news weren’t bad enough.

Scutaro, Jays pound Indians →
torontojays:
Marco Scutaro homered twice and drove in four runs as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Cleveland Indians 10-6 on Wednesday night.
My juvenile, 12 year old mind thinks that’s a very unfortunate headline. Go BJays.

Meet Nikolai Kulemin
I don’t know what it is about Russian hockey players that make people either love or hate them. Maybe it’s because they’re all initially perceived to be enigmas when they arrive to North America. Indisputably, few can dazzle like Russians with their immense skill and innate ability to control the puck at will. But just as easily, there have been countless instances of those who...

Greatest Photographs of the NFL #11
Number 11: The Year and a Half Hit Frank Gifford, running back of the New York Giants, ran with his head down for what seemed to be another big gain in a 1960 regular season game between the Giants and Philadelphia Eagles. The only thing stopping Gifford was either a touchdown or a tackle. However, Chuck Bednarik gave Gifford more than just a tackle - he gave him a hit so hard, Gifford...

Alex Rios →
thehwangspot:
Not his greatest moment. But is he right or wrong? I say wrong.
Old news now, but to Rios’ credit, he immediately came out the next day without any prompting from the media whatsoever and apologized profusely. Certainly not the best way to handle the situation, but that fan was a grade A jerk. Both sides were classless - no real winners here.

LOL forever.
I don’t watch 30 Rock regularly, but this made me laugh. Thanks Liz. How can I relate this to the Blue Jays, I wonder. Oh, maybe that despite ample chances to renew the water jug (read: playoffs), the BJs manage to spill most of it away, even with the best of intentions? That sounds about right. *sobs*

Greatest Photographs of the NFL #12
Number 12: Brown. Jim Brown. Two things stand out for me in this photograph. One, the particular angle of this photograph makes Brown even more of an impressive figure. Many football historians and enthusiasts agree that Brown was the most vaunted athlete in football history, and some even argue, in all of sports. Brown looks like a giant in the picture and I imagine that’s exactly what...

Greatest Photographs of the NFL #13
Number 13: 240 lb. Running Back vs 185 lb. Cornerback Quite possibly the greatest stiff arm in NFL play. At the very least, John Riggins delivered one of the most memorable stiff arms on Don McNeal. Valiantly clinging and dragging on the jersey, McNeal was ultimately forced to the ground by Riggins and became the indelible image of grind it out football at one of its finest. Anchored...
